Abstract |
Vehicular Ad-hoc NETwork (VANET) has received increased attention since the last few years to enhance active safety on the road as well as travel comfort. VANET is a new type of ad-hoc network and it is a form of Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork (MANET) with some unique properties. In VANETs, vehicles can be directly interconnected on roads without the need of any dedicated and fixed infrastructure. MObility model generator for VEhicular networks (MOVE) is used along with Simulation of Urban MObility (SUMO) to generate and simulate realistic mobility model. Network Simulator (version 2) (NS-2) is also used to simulate Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol for VANET. The generated mobility trace file of MOVE can be used in NS-2. In this paper, the performance matrices with various parameters such as average throughput, average end to end delay, packet delivery fraction (PDF) and routing packets of AODV routing protocol for VANET along the different number of nodes and vehicle speeds are also evaluated and analyzed. Keywords- AODV routing protocol, MOVE, NS-2, Realistic mobility model, Simulation, SUMO, VANET | |||||||||
