Abstract |
A novel method for Direct Current(DC) System protection which explores the application of Z-Source Circuit Breakers (ZCBs) is introduced in this paper. Two different Z-Source Circuit Breakers(CBs) ie, Unidirectional as well as Bidirectional are used for the protection of the system. A simple DC Ring Bus System is considered here since ring architecture provides more flexibility to a Medium Voltage Direct Current(MVDC) system compared to a star connected architecture. A method to identify the fault location is also proposed. Simulation is done in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
