Abstract
In non-invasive thermal diagnostics, the general solutions of bioheat equation are often required to correlate thermal image on skin surface with interior human pathophysiology. In this study, a methodology to estimate unknown geometrical parameters of tumour is presented using the temperature distribution over the skin surface that may be captured by infrared camera. To solve these inverse problems a heat source model compatible with the numerical analysis results of Pennes’ bioheat equation that was solved using second order finite difference method with non-linear boundary conditions, was developed. Then, the convergence algorithm was used to estimate the different parameters by minimizing the matching error between the temperature profile obtained from simulated or clinical data and the heat source model pattern as well as numerical result.
