Abstract
The direct integration of energy storage devices has a quantity of advantages such as reduction in power losses, cost, and complexity. This dissertation for that reason presents a direct integration design used designed for super capacitors used in mitigating small-period power fluctuations in wind power systems. This design uses a dual inverter topology for both grid connection and interfacing a super capacitor bank. The major inverter of the dual inverter system is powered by the rectified output of a wind turbine-coupled permanent-magnet synchronous generator. The secondary inverter is directly connected to the super capacitor bank.
