Abstract |
This report investigates the optimum performance characteristics of a horizontal axis wind turbine. The report focuses on the 3-D model generated and flow analysis done on it. Mathematical modelling was also done to check the variation of co-efficient of power, power drawn with various parameters like wind velocity, tip speed ratio etc. for different pitch blade angles and the graphical plot was studied and analysed. A physical model was constructed and experiments were conducted on it in the wind tunnel laboratory to check the variation of power with the diameter of the blade, number of blades used, for different wind velocities.
