Abstract |
As God has blessed Pakistan with immense coal resources of more than 185.5 billion tones, we can generate 100,000 MW of electricity for 30 years but unfortunately only 150MW power plant based on this coal has been set up. Gas produced from coal gasification can be used for purpose of energy production and feedback for different industrial applications. The purpose of this paper is to spread awareness about coal gasification in Pakistan and develop detail instruction for the fabrication and operation of fixed bed coal gasifier unit. A prototype of fixed bed coal gasifier reactor was built for the purpose of investigating the performance of coal in term of synthetic gas production. Initially theoretical calculation is performed and then comparing these results with the experimental results of fixed bed coal gasifier plant.
