Abstract |
Connections constitute a small percentage of the weight of a structure, but they have a relatively high labor content and hence represent a substantial percentage of total framing. Connection deformation is sometimes responsible for a substantial proportion of overall deflection of structure and it often has a significant bearing on the internal force distribution. Design of steel frames are carried out with the assumption that the beams-to-column connections are either rigid or pinned. Steel frames can be designed economically by incorporating the semi-rigid behaviour of the connection. Authors account the semi-rigid behaviour of single web angle connection in analysis by modifying the stiffness matrix and also proposed a partial moment release factor to simulate the semi-rigid behaviour in Staad pro. keywords- Single web angle connection ,Mathematical model, Stiffness matrix, Partial moment release factor | |||||||||
