The demand for newer materials having prominent properties is increasing day by day. Automobile & Aerospace fields do play an important role as far as material selection is concerned. The most commonly used material in these fields is Aluminium.Though it possess all the properties up to some extent constant demand is pushing for alternate materials. Magnesium alloys are a perfect replacement for Aluminium alloys owing to its reliable properties. Friction stir welding is a relatively new technique of solid state welding in which the materials are joined together before reaching their melting point. A combination of Al and Mg alloy is a big leap in Automobile sector. In this paper a detailed review of Friction stir welding of Magnesium alloys has been done. This work will serve as a reference to subsequent researchers. Keywords— Friction stir welding, Magnesium alloy, Process parameter.
