Abstract |
The end-of-arm tool that the robot uses to manipulate objects is called a gripper. A gripper is the mechanical "hand" on the robot that catches and releases objects that are being moved in accordance with the automation instructions. To improve the cycle-time of the assembly line in this project, 2-part gripper and 4-part gripper are evaluated. From the evaluated gripper, a low-weight material with an efficient manufacturing process and a cost-effective robot are implemented. The results show the proposed new material, gripper, process, and particular robot to meet the expected cycle time.
