Abstract
Abstract - The increasing demand for the enclosure of fabricated antennas has raised hands-on demand for radomes and their structural requirements. Ground-based radomes are configured structures that offer a shield to a fabricated antenna against environmental influences such as hail, snow, debris, wind, etc., and constitute various elements and accessories in form of symmetrical dome-shaped construction w.r.t the ground. Depending upon the application in fields, they can be customized in different shapes, sizes, and materials. This paper provides the essence of parameters such as geometric modeling, fabrication aspects, material selection, and general buckling. The emphasis of pressure and loads on a structure when exposed to the surroundings i.e., ground load, wind load, wave load, etc., against various analyses such as fatigue analysis, vibrational analysis, finite-element analysis, etc., have been provided in this paper. The structure of the ground-based radome is constructed using CATIA V5 software and analysis is done on COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS and ANSYS ONSCALE software. The analysis is performed for multiple designs of a 13 m diameter A-sandwich radome for a comparative study against the direct action of pressure caused by wind load and calculations of parameters such as total deformation, stress, and strain are done for determining an optimum design. Keywords - Ground-Based Radomes, Design Analysis, Deformation, Von-Mises Stresses, Structural Stability.
