Abstract |
In this research work, AISI 304H was welded with Metal inert gas (MIG) welding process and the effect of different welding process parameters on microstructural properties and mechanical quality of weldment samples was examined. Wire feed speed, shielding gas flow rate and welding current were considered as welding parameters. Pure Argon (Ar) was considered as shielding gas due to its excellent arc stability. Cooling of weldment samples was carried out at room temperature. The major or key finding of this experimental work clarified that welding voltage has a significant effect on the breaking of the dendrite arms during the Gas Metal Arc welding (GMAW) operation and also influences the mechanical properties of the weldment. The results presented in this study can be used as a guideline to get the better microstructure of AISI 304H steel weldment at different gas flow rate.. Keywords - AISI 304H, microstructure, mechanical properties, GMAW, SEM, Shielding gas. | |||||||||
