Abstract |
In this paper, we try to measure electromagnetic physical quantities with optical fiber sensors. A magnetic force was measured by placing the electromagnet at the tip of a simple cantilever beam with magnetic and increasing the bending load of the cantilever according to the magnitude of the magnetic force induced by the electromagnet. Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors were used to measure the strain induced from the bending load, and the relationship between the strain measured from the sensor and the magnitude of the current applied to the electromagnet was investigated through experiments. Finally, we confirmed that the magnitude of the current can be measured using the measured strain and the proportional relation through the optical fiber sensor.
