Abstract
This research work is carried out at Bharat Forge Ltd Satara. In the company heavy duty work pieces are machined on CNC machines. It requires more time to machining. In the present study, optimization of cutting parameters to minimize machining time in CNC turning of 34CrNiMo6 alloy steel material is discussed. The Taguchi method of optimization is used with a Two Factor-Three level L9 Orthogonal array design. The experimental runs are taken & machining time is recorded. The results are analyzed in MINITAB software using S/N ratio plots. The results Shows that the feed affects more to the machining time than Cutting speed. Higher values of feed & cutting speed give lesser machining time. Finally the optimal values of cutting parameters are given
