Abstract
The Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025 aspires to develop Malaysian students who are able to master higher order thinking skills (HOTS). This is to prepare them for the 21st century workforce. In order to compete with the best in the world, students must not only be knowledgeable but one who can think critically and creatively and also to find workable solutions to any life‟s challenges and problems ahead. This paper discusses the issues and challenges of implementing HOTS in Malaysian educational system, particularly in the school setting.
