Abstract
In recent years, the used of eLearning as a strategy for teaching and learning in higher education has increased. Gamification as an eLearning strategy has gained much favour in higher education and may be considered as a breakthrough in higher education due to the innovative manner in which learning can take place [6]. The increase in popularity as an eLearning strategy may be attributed to the characteristic of gamification to include a component of enjoyment, enhanced by motivational factors which in turn, enhances the learning process of students [5]. This paper will consider the effectiveness of gamification as an eLearning strategy for teaching and learning.
