Abstract
The world value of total trade for plastics and articles thereof (plastics) from Chapter 39 of the Harmonized System (HS) was $1 trillion in 2015. Based on percentage changes in the 4-digit HS headings in Chapter 39, floor, wall, and ceiling coverings accounted for the largest percentage changes in trade during 2010-15, followed by certain household articles, and certain resins. Reasons for the shifts included China’s increase in its Chapter 39 trade balanceby $29 billion, which was helped by the country’spolicies towards the plastics sector.
