Abstract |
This study examines the Western touristic representations of India, with reference to the contemporary geopolitical stature of the nation. Using multimodal discourse analysis, the present tourism dialogues in the brochures, guidebook and video documentary are investigated. The major findings suggest that the Western markets commence to identify the potential of India, though they sustain to depict the perennial denigration of India as an oriental, poor, timeless, exotic and dangerous place.
