Abstract
The 3D optical illusion Mirascope is a traditional 3D display system that allows viewing 3D in all directions. Because of its unique optical structure, it is exhibited in science museums and used for educational purposes in the field of optics. The 3D displayed by this device is also the most realistic 3D among various existing 3D display methods. However, this device can only display 3D as if the floating image is stuck to the top surface of the device. In this paper, we proposed a 3D optical illusion Mirascope that can achieve higher floating effects by using a parabolic concave mirror, a half mirror, and a louvers. Through experiments to measure the floating distance from the top of the device, we confirmed that the proposed method can display a floating image at a higher position than conventional methods.
