Abstract
Abstract - The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness Dyscalculia Module to improve the basic arithmetic skills among students with dyscalculia in primary schools. A pilot study was carried out among 40 students with dyscalculia. Dyscalculia Module is completed with Teachers’ Manual, Pupil’s Exercise Book, PowerPoint games, and number sense interactive games. The method employed in this study was quasi experiment. There was a number of 40 students in national schools involved in this study. A pre-test was carried for treatment group and control group. Three weeks of intervention was implemented to the students before another post-test was carried to both groups of students. The students in treatment group went through intervention using Dyscalculia Module, whereas the students in control group went through intervention using traditional method. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics. The findings show that the basic arithmetic skills of the students in treatment group have improved after using Dyscalculia Module. However, there is no significant difference between the improvement of treatment group and control group. As a conclusion, even though Dyscalculia Module is able to improve the basic arithmetic skills among students with dyscalculia, however a longer period of intervention should be carried out. Future researchers are recommended to utilize the module among the larger scale of participants. Keywords - Dyscalculia, Module, Arithmetic skills, Quasi-experiment, Intervention.
