Abstract
The CPI (M) led Left Front Government’s initiative related to assimilation of elements of Capitalism under the stewardship of the then Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee enabled the party to be victorious in the 2006 state assembly elections in West Bengal. Nonetheless, this specific act later on turned out to be a curse for the party leading to their ultimate regeneration in the 2011 State Assembly elections largely through the “Singur Nandigram Massacre.” This article provides a comprehensive insight into the shortcoming of the CPI (M) led Left Front Government through comparative analysis with the incumbent TMC Government. Besides, it highlights the imperative initiatives of the party to regain its lost glory along in West Bengal along with some soul searching with the upcoming State Assembly Elections hitting round the corner.
