Abstract
Universities in South Africa receives substantial more applicants than available places for admission. For admission to study in the field of Human Resources Management universities mainly use the APS (admission point score) thus points allocated to each senior certificate subject. Given the current problems in education and the environmental constraints of the majority of applicants, can senior certificate results be used as a sole selection mechanism? The purpose of this research, therefore, is to investigate whether the Myers-Briggs instrument predict academic success in the fields of Human Resources Management and Industrial Engineering.
