Abstract
In the 21st Century, minority students encountered several problems in institutions of higher education. These problems may be due to structural or cultural practices in higher institutions. The paper addressed the question of what higher education organizations need to do to embrace and facilitate diversity across tertiary institutions. The paper identified lower retention rates, poor academic performance, and a lesser sense of belonging as the major challenges facing minority students in higher education institutions. Practicing transformational leadership by college administrators and applying the political as well as the social frames in the context of higher education served as the recommended solutions.
