Abstract |
The economic development of regions defines the whole economic system of the country. It is important to balance economic activities undertaken by entities against challenges set to the country by the natural environment. The industries which use natural resources in their activity should realistically estimate the possibilities of their own development while taking into account the process of sustainability of environmental resources. The paper, on the example of the furniture industry (as one of the leading industries in terms of exports), clearly indicates an increase in inputs with a relatively small increase in natural resources. The analysis of the selected region in Poland (one of the leading areas manufacturing furniture) is the preliminary examination aimed at the optimization of furniture production in the country without disturbing the balance of the natural environment.
