Abstract |
One of the biggest challenges facing tourism and hospitality industry is the emerging and fast growing ‘sharing economy’. Sharing economy describes a new economic paradigm driven by technology, consumer awareness and mobile commerce, particularly through web communities. There is a debate around the impacts of the sharing economy on tourism industry. Sharing economy activity might reduce formal published GDP and thus might be a type of shadow business practices. However, it has a tremendous impact on several business sector practices generally and specifically tourism and hospitality industry. This research aims to analyze the impact of sharing economy entry into Egyptian tourism and hospitality industry and analyze its costs and benefits.
