Abstract
This theoretical paper studies the influence of parents’ socio-economic status and environmental background on their children private tuition education in Mauritius. The discussion in the paper is based on the theoretical framework of Bronfenbrenner`s ecological system theory and the theory of human motivation (Abraham Maslow; 1943) theory. These theories are appropriate for the study because they allow the reader to understand how children’s private tuition education is significantly affected by the socio-economic statusand environment factors in the Mauritian case. Conclusions were drawn and the paper proposes some recommendations to curb private tuition in Mauritius Keywords - Socio-economic Status, Educational Background, Parents, Children, Private Tuition.
