Abstract
Business orientation is a key factor of a successful functioning, direction and progressof small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The aim of the paper is to define and quantify the significance of given factors influencing the SMEs business orientation. The paper examines innovativeness and risk taking. Information necessaryfor research evaluation was obtained from 1141 enterprises in the Czech Republic. The significance ofrespective factors was quantified and their statistical significance determined using the method of regression analysis.It can be concluded that investing finances into development of new methods and technologies and conducting risky projects for the purpose of increasing the enterprise’s performancestrongly determine the SMEs business orientation.
