Abstract
Gradient based methods usually are reminded to be employed at adjusting the coefficients in neural networks. However, this study includes a gradient algorithm for estimation of the rotor speed and the resistance of an induction motor (IM) simultaneously. The gradient descent used in this study is based upon taking gradient of the cost function which is developed from the error of stator currents. The estimation is only available under assumption that stator voltages and currents are measurable. The step size is thought as a variable. Index Terms- Adaptive step size, gradient descent, induction motor, parameter estimation.
