Abstract |
This paper demonstrates Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC), a device belonging to Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) family. The SSSC, a voltage source inverter connected in series with the transmission line injects the voltage in quadrature with the line current. Properly designed PI controller ensures effectiveness on the dynamic and transient operation of the system. SSSC controller helps improve voltage stability and compensate reactive power. The proposed power system control scheme is supported by simulation in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
