Abstract
Presently, the propagation of electromagnetic waves in photonic crystals has become the subject of extensive research due to its remarkable properties. Photonic crystal is an artificial dielectric structure inwhich the nature of the photons is the same as that of electrons in a semiconductor crystals and it has inspired a lot of fundamental research on light–matter interaction. The tailoring of photonic band gap with designing parameters is a key for the designingof advanced photonic devices with desired properties. In this paper, MATLAB simulation of 1D photonic crystal using transfer matrix method (TMM) is presented and important results are discussed
