Abstract |
Discoverer 37, also known as Corona 9030, was an American optical reconnaissance satellite which was lost in a launch failure in 1962. It was the last KH-3 Corona''' satellite, which was based around an Agena-B rocket. The 2009 satellite collision was the first accidental hypervelocity collision between two intact artificial satellites in low Earth orbit. It occurred on February 10, 2009, 16:56 UTC, when Iridium 33 and Kosmos-2251 collided at a speed of 42,120 km/h (26,170 mi/h). and an altitude of 789 kilometres (490 mi) above the Taymyr Peninsula in Siberia. In this paper we have taken launch failure or failure due to collision. When the main unit fails due to launch failure then cold standby system becomes operative. Failure due to collision cannot occur simultaneously in both the units and after failure the unit undergoes very costly repair facility immediately in case of launch failure. Applying the regenerative point technique with renewal process theory the various reliability parameters MTSF, Availability, Busy period, Benefit-Function analysis have been evaluated.
