Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is proved to be a robust well-known technique and hopping across various frequency bands is also known for its ability to enhance the system's performance. Combining both of them should be beneficial in mitigating interference and jamming caused accidentally or on purpose especially in military applications. In this paper, the bit error rate (BER) performances of an improved OFDM communication system utilizing different frequency band hopping techniques against diverse types of jammers are presented. The overall system performance is improved gradually by increasing the number of frequency hopping bands against narrowband, wideband, and barrage jammers in case of low jamming power at the receiver front end. At high jamming power, no improvement is achieved using band hopping. Keywords —Jamming, Mitigation, Band Hopping, OFDM, Narrowband, Wideband, and Barrage.
