Abstract
Synthesis of Nanoparticles of Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) was carried out by using simple and inexpensive sonochemical method with Zinc acetate and Sodium selenite as precursor. Hydrazine hydrate and Ammonia were used to control the size of nanoparticles. The crystalline nature and size of samples were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction(XRD) analysis, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV–vis), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR), SEM and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction pattern indicates that ZnSe QDs possess Wurtzite (Hexagonal) structure. The room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the wurtziteZnSe showed a strong near-band-edge emission peak at 422 nm. The enhanced luminescence property is measured from photoluminescence spectrophotometry. Absorption spectra demonstrate that high absorption occur at a wavelength of 415nm. The presence of hydrazine monohydrate in the ZnSe nanoparticles is confirmed by the FTIR spectrum.
