Abstract
Bamboo is also known as a quarter of bamboo flowering perennial plant of the family Poaceae. Structural bamboo is hollow in the middle and keratin vascular bundles cross is scattered throughout the stem. It also does not have xylem. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world due to the system unique rhizome dependent. This plant has an interest in Economics and culture in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia where it is already used as construction, food sources and also a versatile raw product. There are ten types of clusters of bamboo and it is subdivided into 1450 species. Species this can be found in various places with different climates either on the mountain cold or warm tropical areas. Natural fibres tend to be used more wider to replace the plastic structure because this material is much more lighter, accommodate high load, good fatigue lifespan, good corrosive resistant and low manufacturing costs. Bamboos are well known for their vigorous growth and variety of uses. They are a popular landscape plant because they grow rapidly, are evergreens, and create a tropical or exotic atmosphere. They are often marketed as alternative, fast-growing privacy screens. However, the pure bamboo is not fully analyzed especially designed based on clump. Therefore the research is to identify the mechanical properties of the bamboo clumps. Hardness Test, Charpy Impact Test, Izod Impact Test were carried out based on ASTM D256-02, D6110-02 and D2240 (Type D) on the top, middle and bottom of the bamboo clumps. For this the bamboo strips were cut into thickness 1.5mm. Based on the Mechanical Testing conducted, it is found that the Top part of the bamboo is having the highest Hardness and Toughness properties. Keywords: Pure Bamboo Strip, Hardness Test, Charpy Impact Test, Izod Impact Test, Toughness.
