Abstract
A facile method has been reported for the synthesis of monodispersed ZnSe nanoparticles nearly 200ᵒC using single source molecular precursor zinc (II)complex of bis(2-aminoethyl)selenide and quinoline as capping agent as well as decomposition solvent. Nano-material was well characterized by PXRD, Raman spectroscopy, UV- Visible spectroscopy. The nanoparticles exhibited strong quantum confinement effect with respect to the bulk ZnSe. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that the sphalerite cubic crystalline ZnSe, with average particle size of about 5.19 nm and band gap energy values are calculated as for ZnSe = 3.95 eV. Longitudinal optical (LO) phonon is reported at 143 cm-1 and its position is invariant with decreasing particle size as the dispersion curve for LO phonon branch is almost flat are observed using surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Keywords - single source molecular precursor, PXRD, Raman spectroscopy, UV- Visible spectroscopy
