Abstract |
New hybrid nanoparticles based on gold decorated magnetic core, embedded into silica matrix were prepared. Functionalization of the particles was made with folic acid as model bioligand for cellular targeting. The multifunctional NPs were characterized from the point of view of size, surface potential and optical properties. The morphology of the hybrid nanoparticles was investigated by TEM imaging. Folic acid attachment was confirmed by zeta potential and FTIR spectra. The particles obtained were spherical, rather monodisperse and stable in aqueous solution up to 4 week of storage at room temperature. The shell of silica deposited on hybrid Fe3O4@Au nanoparticles confers a better biocompatibility and reduce toxicity, compared with magnetic and metallic component. The silica-coated multifunctional NPs appear to be promising nanomaterials with potential for cell separation in microfluidic devices. | |||||||||
