Abstract
Cancer is one of the main cause of mortality in the world which appears by the effect of environmentalphysicochemical mutagen and carcinogen agents. Lymphoblastic leukemia is one the prevalence cancer in human. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy improve remission of the disease but some probability relaps is observed between 20-30% patients. Tumorgenesis and tumor progression are strongly associated with abnormal apoptosis. A number of natural antitumor drugs exert their therapeutic effect by inducing or promoting apoptosis. In the last years, many studies have been performed on the anticancer effects of flavonoids. In cancer therapies, natural compounds have been considered as effective inhibitor agents. There is evidence to support the concept that 2`,3,4`,5,7 pentha hydroxyl flavone (morin) has a great potential to develop into novel cancer preventative agent. In this study human acute lymphoblastic leukemia (CCRF-CEM) was cultured in RPMI 1640[Sigma], supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum(FBS), penecilin-streptomycin and L-glutamine. The cultures were incubated at 37ÂșC, 5% CO2 and then inhibitory effect of morin on their proliferation was measured by MTT assay.. MTT assay showed that morin inhibited proliferation of CCRF-CEM cell line in dose-dependent manner significantly ( P<0.05). The results demonstrated that morin has a potential as an anticancer agent.
