Abstract
Cellulose nanoparticles (CNs) are ideal materials for a new biomass polymer composites industry. CNs and CNs/water-borne polyurethane (WPU) composite were prepared using facile and environment-friendly approach without using any harmful chemicals. The morphology, thermal and mechanical properties of the CNs/WPU nanocomposite were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravmetric analysis (TGA), rheometer, and wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD). The CNs shows low crystallinity during regeneration with NaOH-based aqueous solution, which was identified more thermodynamically stable form by SEM and TEM. The thermal stability of CNs/WPU nanocomposites might be increased by the addition of cellulose nanoparticles as observed in thermogravmetric analysis. Keywords- cellulose, nanoparticles, nanocomposite, water-borne, polyurethane
