Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of activating CD117 gene mutation in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Twenty-two CD117 positive HCC specimens confirmed by immunohisto chemical staining and RT-PCR were analyzed. All specimens were screened for mutations in exons 9 and 11 of the CD117 gene by direct sequencing. No sequence abnormalities were detected. These results suggest that the expression of CD117 tyrosine kinase is independent of mutation in exons 9 and 11 of HCC. Keywords- CD117, Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Receptor Tyrosine Kinase.
