Abstract |
This paper presents a simple and less expensive synthesis method of Au-Graphene catalysts which is chemical reduction method of graphene oxide (GO) and gold precursor (HAuCl ). Simultaneous and sequential reduction steps were employed to reduce graphene oxide and gold precursor. The catalysts were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Chronoamperometry (CA). The results indicated that Au nanoparticles with the average particle sizes of 7.32 and 5.86nm were uniformly dispersed on graphene sheet for simultaneous and sequential reductions, respectively. Nevertheless, for glycerol oxidation in alkaline medium, the Au-Graphene catalyst reduced simultaneouslywas more active and stable than that was performedsequentially.
