Abstract |
Titania supported nickel catalyst (Ni-TiO2)was synthesized by impregnation of Ni(NO3)2.6H2O on a titania prepared from titanium iso-propoxide by a sol-gel techniqueusing cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride as atemplating agent. The catalyst was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, BET surface area analysis, and surface acidity measurement viaadsorption of organic base pyridine. The addition of nickelontitania increased the physical and chemical properties of the catalyst, i.e. crystalinity, surface area and surface acidity. The synthesized Ni-TiO2catalyst was applied for the hydrogenation of the artemisininto deoxyartemisinin giving yields up to34% in mild reaction conditions.
