Abstract
Technical Bid Evaluation is the core in the procurement of instruments. This paper research new method for technical queries and technical bid evaluation effectiveness. In EPC companies for Oil & gas, Petrochemical sector, it is always challenging to improve instrument procurement cycle to meet project tight schedule. One way is, to reduce time for vendor technical queries. In this work automatic instrument model order code generation method is presented. It is created in MS access program. The Unique feature of this method is that it can be customized as per project requirement. In order, to produce result, from one of EPC project, instrument item i.e., Pressure transmitter has been considered. Process and project related inputs are filled in the INPUT Form and results are obtained for three different vendors. With this method, instrument model order code is generated. These results are shared with procurement department for procuring instrument. This method reduces technical queries time and technical bid evaluation time resulting into overall project reduced delivery time. The ideas presented in this paper will be useful for creating more such programs for EPC(Engineering, Procurement & Construction), manufacturing plant or other related industries to reduce technical queries time.
