Abstract
Innovation, Optimization, and cost effectiveness are mantras in today‟s Automotive industry. Industry trying to achieve „First time right‟ in product development with the help of „Digital Twins‟. Digital Twins to provide multiple solutions at early conceptual phase and mimics behavior of real products, thus eliminating costly prototype. „Trade-off‟ studies to help optimizing design of products. In this thesis „Design Optimization & Digital Twin‟ techniques are used while designing „Composite Leaf Spring System‟. Planning, requirements modelling, architecture definition, component implementation and verification & validation is carried out in digital environment and tools like 3DEXPERIENCE, CATIA, CATIA Magic & ANSYS. Trade-off studies are performed at architecture, design phase to optimize design, and product development. Comparison between „Traditional product development to „Digital Twin based product development‟ are performed and savings in terms of weight recorded. Composite Material Leaf Spring saves 80.7% of weight and enables fuel efficiency to vehicle. Keywords - Digital Twin, Trade-offs, Optimization, MBSE and Composite Leaf Spring
