Abstract
The development of remote sensing technology has increasingly provided easy access to understanding various spatial phenomena, one of them is the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) DNB that provides information about distribution of artificial nighttime light (ANTL) on the earth's surface as an indicator of socio-economic activity and anthropogenic existence in a region. Apart from using light illumination as an indicator, this phenomenon can be observed by looking at the built-up area of land cover through the Normalized Difference Built Up Index (NDBI).However, the NDVI data has an identification error between the constructed land and the empty land. Therefore, the relationship between these two variables needs to be tested. Multi-temporal analysis using the VIIRS-NDB2015 and 2018 data was carried out to see the development of a built-up area with light illumination and land cover. The results of this observations show that the increase in the DN VIIRS value which represents artificial light illumination is followed by the DN NDBI value which represents the density of the built-up land in the study area in 2018.The interpretation of the data explains that the development of the area is followed by the expansion of the area indicated by artificial night lights. Remote sensing method that can effectively assist in monitoring and policing control an area. Correlation analysis using the one-tailed Spearman's Rank has strong results with 0.65 in 2015 and 0.63 in 2018 and having a monotonous correlation pattern. These two values are considered very high scores. Keyword - VIIRS, NDBI, Built-up Area, Artificial Light, Spearman's Rank
