Abstract |
The present work, the reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was synthesized by reduction of graphene oxide (GO) with N,N-diethylhydroxylamine (DEHA) as a reductant. The GO and rGO was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). This paper describes the fabrication of Zn-NirGO and Zn-Ni-GO composites coatings on mild steel in 3.5% NaCl solution by electrodeposition method. Results showed GO was reduced to few-layers level with poor dispersion in water. Corrosion behavior and hardness of these films were studied by various tests such as EIS, Taffel and Vichers micro hardness. A significant improvement in the corrosion resistance and corrosion rate in the presence of Zn-Ni coating containing GO and rGO.
