Abstract |
Warfarin is one to the most common world-wide prescribed oral anticoagulants with narrow therapeutic index. An insufficient dose of warfarin may lead to the failure its antithrombotic effect, while overdose may increase the risk of hemorrhage. Genetic variability in two genes CYP2C9 and VKORC1 have a significant effect on the individual's response to the warfarin dose. The aim of our study was determine the frequency of selected single nucleotide polymorphisms in genes CYP2C9 (CYP2C9*2 and CYP2C9*3) and VKORC1 (VKORC1*2 and VKORC1*3) in Slovak population.
