Abstract
Abstract - This study was carried out to determine the germination rate of the10 quinoa cultivarsat different salinity and temperature. Two separate trials for salinity and temperature were established under controlled growth conditions.Petri dishes were placed in a completely randomized experimental design with three replications. Each variety germination was tested at 6 different temperatures (0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 0C) and salinity (0, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 mM NaCl) levels. The salinity levels and temperature degrees affected germination rates of the quinoa cultivar at a significant level. Depending on the temperature degree, the germination rates of the cultivars ranged from 0 to 87.3%, the highest value (100%) was determined at the Q-52 cultivar and 20 oC. Higher germination percentages were determined in freshwater. As salinity level increases, germination rates decreased. Q-52 cultivar has the maximum germination rate (98%) in the salt-free conditions. Keywords - Quinoa, germination, temperature, salinity
