Abstract
The experimental friction factor and Nusselt number data for turbulent flow through a circular pipe having and fitted with spring tape have been presented. The thermohydraulic performance has been evaluated. Reynolds number varies from 100 – 13000. The major findings of this experimental investigation are that the spring-tape inserts of different twist ratio TR (y/W = 0.75, 1.25, 1.75) perform better than the smooth duct for laminar flow through a circular pipe. Index Terms— Turbulent Flow, Forced Convection, Spring-Tape Inserts, Heat Transfer Enhancement, Swirl Flow.
