Abstract
Designing lighter systems with higher speed and workload are always accepted in the present days. In such a case, the major problem that we have to overcome is the uncontrolled vibration occurring in the structure. Using the concept of smart structures these vibrations can be controlled. Lot of studies are being conducted in this field. The sensors are placed for monitoring the vibrations at a specific place and the actuators incorporate internal forces to suppress these vibrations. Placing of these actuators and sensors has an important role in active vibration control. The optimal placement of actuators and sensors based on the mode shapes of the structure using PID control method is studied in this paper.
