Abstract
Concrete encased columns have various use in high rise structure owing to high ductility and stiffness. This type of structural members can overcome high loading conditions and different patterns of seismic loading. This paper represents the literature survey to make use of Concrete encased columns in buildings to overcome the dominant irregularities for nowadays structure. Mostly the Mass Irregularity, Stiffness Irregularity, Torsional Irregularity & Re-entrant type. In order to overcome the irregularity, the column sizes are being manipulated which leads to the increase in their sizes as well dead load of the structure. Keywords - Concrete encased Column, Composite column, Seismic performance, Vertical & horizontal irregularity.
