Abstract
The properties of ACB and ACB masonry clearly indicate that there are certain relative merits and demerits of ACB masonry when compared to the conventional load-bearing masonry. It is important to highlight the most beneficial property of ACB, viz., it’s extremely low unit weight and reasonably moderate compressive strength. This work is devoted to the estimation of ACB masonry wall strength, using an analytical approach which is based on the mechanics of the behaviour of walls under axial and eccentric loads. The basic strength and the stress–strain relation required for the nonlinear analysis were based on the experiments carried out on prisms and wallettes. The design parameter, viz., the stress reduction factor (ks), has been obtained through the analytical studies. Key words- Wall strength, analytical approach, stress reduction factor, capacity reduction factor, sine-series approach
